Internal medicine physicians, sometimes called internists, are trained to care for adults, including older adults with several health conditions at once. Family medicine physicians care for patients of all ages, including children. At Miami Health Center, our internal medicine physicians focus on adults and seniors, which means everyday primary care plus deeper experience with conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and thyroid disease. If you are 18 or older, we can be your primary care home.
Yes to both. Patients with commercial, employer, Marketplace, or Medicaid plans usually have a yearly preventive visit or physical covered by their plan. Patients with Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage have the Annual Wellness Visit, a yearly planning appointment that reviews your history, medications, risk factors, and screenings, and many pair it with a physical. Routine lab work can be drawn in our office. Our front desk can tell you which visit type your plan covers.
Our team works with Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage (including HMO plans), commercial and employer plans, Marketplace plans, and Medicaid managed care plans, and we welcome self-pay patients. Participation varies by plan and by provider, and some plans are accepted for endocrinology visits only, so call our office before your visit and we will verify your specific plan.
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of every medication and supplement you take, including doses. If you have recent lab results, imaging reports, or records from a previous doctor, bring those too, or ask that office to send them to us. It also helps to write down any questions or concerns ahead of time so nothing gets missed during your visit.
Yes. You can choose any of our providers as your regular provider. All of them see patients across our core services.
For hormone and metabolic conditions such as diabetes or thyroid disease, our endocrinology care is right here in the same office, so there is no separate referral trip. For other specialties, our team coordinates the referral, share your records, and follow up on the results so your care stays connected. You keep one primary care home throughout.
